You also can influence appearance of high-speed line in Prague!
Whether it's brownfield sites, excluded locations, or a polluted environment, people can tell to Správa železnic what's bothering them in their area by using the map of feelings. The map can be used to show, for example, poor transport accessibility, unsafe traffic, or, on the contrary, to show what residents wish to preserve or strengthen in the area. These are important natural sites or meeting places as well. The feeling map will thus also support opportunities for new cycling paths, walkways, or playgrounds. Správa železnic will then take all the suggestions into account in the development of the urban study and the design of the railway lines.
As part of the pilot operation, the feeling map is available for a 12-kilometre section of the HSL between Praha-Vršovice and Praha-Běchovice, which will connect to the planned VRT Polabí (HSL Elbe Flatlands) connecting Praha-Běchovice with Poříčany. This will allow trains to enter the Prague junction and serve the existing station.
The feeling map is part of a new approach to HSL design. Architects and urban planners start their work by mapping the relations in the area together with the individual plans (for example, the construction of housing or the establishment of a new park) and place the new line in its overall context. The suggestions received are not a reaction to the specific form of the project (a new line on a bridge, embankment or in a tunnel), but serve to better understand the needs of residents. Only then will the designers get to work. Together with a team of urban planners, they will prepare variants of the line alignment that will best pass through the area and bring other positive effects in the vicinity of the line.
The feeling map can be found at this link: Pocitová mapa VRT Praha (pocitovemapy.cz). It will be available until the end of January and the evaluation will be available on the same link during February.
