Smíchov Station is to change, it will offer more services for passengers
The planned construction will follow the ongoing modernisation of the track facility, which also includes the reconstruction of all platforms and pedestrian underpasses. The current station building will be reconstructed in coordination with the construction of the new transport terminal, with which it will be interconnected into one functional unit. Instead of the south wing, a four-storey new building will be built, which will house commercial and gastronomic units and services not only for passengers but also for other visitors to this busy part of Smíchov.
The future Smíchov Terminal will be part of a major transformation of the entire area. It will connect the newly built district, trams and metro with the railway, and a platform with a bus station for long-distance and suburban connections will be built above the platforms. There will be a P+R car park and a capacity parking for bicycles. The roof of the platforms will also serve as a link between Smíchov and Radlice.
The current station building in Prague's Smichov district dates back to 1956. It is the third busiest railway station in Prague after the main and Masaryk railway stations. In the mid-1980s, the entrance to the Smíchovské nádraží metro station on the newly built B line became part of the station's entrance hall.
