Safe overpass will be used to get to Velká Chuchle, pedestrian underpass will be built

Frequent waiting in front of the closed barrier in Velká Chuchle will soon be history of the past, Správa železnic has chosen the contractor for the construction of the overpass. Companies Váhostav and Colas were successful in the tender procedure and submitted the best bid of CZK 474.6 million. According to the contract, they will first draw up the project documentation, and then the actual construction work will start next spring. These will last until the beginning of 2027. The completion of the overpass will bring a significant increase in road and rail traffic safety.

The main purpose of the construction is to remove the four-track crossing in Starochuchelská Street, which crosses the busy railway line from Prague to Beroun.

In the first stage of the works, a road overpass will be built. It will lead from Starochuchelská Street across the bed of the Vrutice Stream along the newly reconstructed Nad Drahou Street, which will be supported on the railway side by a new retaining wall. Roughly at the crossing of Na Mrázovce Street with Nad Drahou Street, it crosses the railway line out of alignment and exits at Mezichuchelská Street. The overpass will be supplemented on one side by a pedestrian walkway.

After the construction of the road overpass, the level crossing will be closed, and a barrier-free pedestrian underpass will be created in its current position. The exits will be built in Starochuchelská, Dostihová and Radotínská Streets, which will also provide a direct connection to the new railway stop Praha-Velká Chuchle.
