Prevention Train departs again. Playfully and comprehensibly teaches principles of safe behaviour

In cooperation with Správa železnic and České dráhy, the Prevention Train for a Safe Railway is on its 16th journey across the country. Its aim is to make young people aware of how to behave in the vicinity of the tracks. This time the interactive lessons will take place at railway stations in Olomouc, Pardubice, Plzeň and České Budějovice.

“Prevention is key. Every year, the statistics of accidents with tragic consequences confirm this. Our mission therefore starts with young people, whom we teach in a non-traditional form to recognise the risks and protect their lives,”  says Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic

The Prevention Train is designed especially for pupils aged 12 to 18, and this year it will bring an educational experience to stations in Olomouc (27 to 28 May), Pardubice (29 to 30 May), Plzeň (3 to 4 June) and České Budějovice (5 to 6 June). Also this year, the teaching will be carried out with the active involvement of students personal experiences and stories of tragic accidents that occurred on the railways due to neglect of basic safety rules will not be missing.

“The Prevention Train is in demand among schools every year and that's a good thing. Young people are directly confronted with events that have happened on the railway that have not had a good end. They will also meet the specialists who intervene in these cases,” says Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of České dráhy.

The students will begin their educational journey in a special cinema car, where they will see the documentary “You Can't Make It!”  It is based on real events with tragic consequences. The discussion car then provides a space to meet experienced accident investigators who talk about dangerous situations and explain how to prevent them. At the end, the participants will have the opportunity to practice the basics of first aid under the guidance of railway firefighters.
