Not just waiting room. Správa železnic expands range of services at stations
The patrol service of the Police of the Czech Republic has been operating at the České Budějovice railway station since the summer. With an area of almost 400 m², it occupies almost the entire first floor of the building, and there are also reserved parking spaces for quick exit. The amount of the construction works, including the construction of new technical and social facilities, amounted to CZK 22 million.
There is a newly expanded eye clinic at the railway station in Hradec Králové, and veterinary clinics in Sedlčany and Opava provide health care for pets. In an effort to adapt the stations to the needs of local communities, a multifunctional hall was created in the basement of the Pardubice railway station building, replacing the former Sirius cinema.
Last year, the TT Model Museum opened in Choceň station, offering a unique insight into the history of model railways and it is an ideal place for families with children. Another interesting feature is the dance school in Kralupy nad Vltavou, which offers courses for various age groups and contributes to the enrichment of the cultural life of the town, or the facilities in Hronov, which are used by the local House of Children and Youth for the interest activities of young people, for example in the preparation of an exhibition of model railways.
Other specialised services such as pharmacies, hairdressers and fitness centres can also be found at stations around the country.
