New station building will arise in Kladno
As part of the ongoing reconstruction, a planned survey was carried out in the building of the Kladno railway station using excavated probes, which for technical reasons could only be carried out after the building had been completely cleared.
“The results of the measurements showed that not only the foundation conditions are different in the building, but also the presence of groundwater was detected. Given the significantly worse condition of the building than expected, other options had to be considered, of which the construction of a new hall proved to be the best solution,” said Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.
Správa železnic and the city of Kladno first commissioned a study of the new station building. After evaluating all relevant factors, including financial costs, they opted for an overall more advantageous solution, which envisages a check-in hall built closer to the pedestrian underpass.
“When the real condition of the original building became apparent, we decided with my colleagues in the city management to unequivocally support a new, modern, and functional solution with lower energy consumption, which can also bring significant operational savings. The study presented looks very good from our point of view,” said Milan Volf, the mayor of Kladno, adding that it fulfils the city's condition that the new building be of the highest architectural quality and meet modern requirements.
Správa železnic will now follow up the conceptual study by studio Jakub Cigler Architekti by preparing project documentation, considering all relevant factors, and ensuring that the resulting solution is optimal for both passengers and the city of Kladno. This will be followed by a tender for a contractor for the construction work.Soubory ke stažení
