Havířov railway station is changing for better, platforms are coming next
“The modernisation of the Havířov station is crucial for us. It will significantly ensure the accessibility of trains to a wide public, because in addition to improving the technical parameters of the infrastructure, it will bring full barrier-free accessibility. After the reconstruction of the building and the modification of the forecourt, which was carried out by the city, the station part itself is now under construction. In addition, we will extend the underpass to the local part of Šumbark, thus connecting parts of the city in a comfortable and safe way,” says Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.
The extensive modernisation includes a complete reconstruction of the station area including platforms and barrier-free access to them. Overhead contact line will be renewed and its switching from DC to AC voltage is planned in the perspective future. Furthermore, the railway superstructure and substructure, bridges and culverts will be completely reconstructed, which will enable smoother traffic. The planned installation of new signalling and telecommunication system will ensure the highest level of passenger safety.
The builders will construct a temporary footbridge for access to the platforms even during the demanding reconstruction. Passengers will use it from the middle of next year. Traffic restrictions will have to be taken into account during the construction of the new railway bridge over Ostravská Street.
The value of the construction works amounts to CZK 3,398,568,539, the construction contractor is the association of companies Subterra, OHLA ŽS, Elektrizace železnice Praha and AŽD.
The project Optimisation of the line section Havířov (incl.) – stop Havířov střed (excl.) will be co-funded by the European Union from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), with an expected subsidy of up to CZK 2.2 billion. National funding will be provided by Státní fond dopravní infrastruktury (State Fund for Transport Infrastructure).Soubory ke stažení
