Getting on train in Lovosice is comfortable, renovation of building is up next
In Lovosice, reconstruction of all four platforms has been underway since last February. “They have been raised so that passengers can comfortably get directly onto the train. The pedestrian underpass has also been renovated and local citizens will appreciate its extension to Máchova Street. Barrier-free access to the platform is provided by lifts,” says Minister of Transport Martin Kupka.
The builders also built new lighting for the platforms and the pedestrian underpass. The project also included reconstruction of radio equipment, passenger information and orientation system and installation of surveillance cameras. The overhead contact line also underwent necessary modifications.
Total construction costs Reconstruction of platforms and barrier-free access at the railway station Lovosice amounted to almost CZK 440 million. The project is proposed for co-financing by the European Union through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). The construction works were carried out by companies SWIETELSKY Rail CZ and EDIKT.
“We are now following up the work in the track with a complete reconstruction of the station building. It was built in 1968 as part of the overall reconstruction of the station. Passengers will get a modern environment, yet it will retain its original character,” describes Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic
The builders will modify the internal layout to improve the functionality of the public spaces. Both the envelope and the roofs will be insulated. Further savings in operating costs will come from the reconstruction of distribution networks and electrical installations and the installation of a photovoltaic power plant. New parking lots will be created next to the building with stands for charging electric cars and spaces for bicycles.
The contractor of the works will be the company OHLA ŽS. During the construction, passenger corridors in the building will be modified. They will be marked with a temporary orientation system. The total cost amounts to CZK 240 million. It will be ready in July next year.
