Správa železnic bought part of the company ČD - Telematika
The section responsible for the main procedural and engineering activities related to the maintenance and servicing of the railway telecommunications assets of Správa železnic will be transferred from ČD - Telematika to Správa železnic. This includes, for example, network monitoring, data and transmission technology management, regional construction management or configuration and supervision of the GSM-R system.
“In connection with the transfer, almost one hundred of ČD - Telematika current employees will be transferred to us. They will help us build our own organisational structure for project management and supervision of the maintenance and management of the railway tele-communications assets we own,” explains Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.
“The now approved form of our cooperation with Správa železnic will bring the best benefit to all parties involved and to the state as such. In addition, we will not get rid of our expertise in this area, on the contrary, we can offer it to our other customers in full and unchanged scope without any problems,” says Jan Hobza, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČD - Telematika.
This step is part of a broader effort of Správa železnic to strengthen its competence and independence in management and maintenance of the telecommunications infrastructure, which is necessary to ensure safe and efficient railway operation, especially with regard to the implementation of the European Train Control System (ETCS).
The preparatory phase will already start in January and will include the organisational and technical steps needed to ensure a smooth and efficient transition of responsibilities. The transfer is expected to be completed during the third quarter of next year.
ČD - Telematika is a major provider of railway signalling and communication technologies and also acts as a supplier of wholesale telecommunications services.
