Reconstruction of the check-in hall at main station in Pardubice

Správa železnic signed a contract with the contractor for the reconstruction of the remaining part of the station building at Pardubice Main Station. The reconstruction of the check-in hall together with the eastern and western wings of the building will be carried out by the companies Chládek a Tintěra, Pardubice and Eurovia. Work on the listed building will include renovation of the building structures, roof, façade, and the entire interior. It will be returned to its original form, but with respect to current requirements. The handover of the site will take place in April, when the first works will begin. It will be ready at the end of 2026.

The Pardubice railway station building began serving the public in 1958, and conservationists consider it to be the finest functionalist railway station with a hotel in post-war Czechoslovakia. Správa železnic has already completed the first stage of the reconstruction, which mainly concerned the high-rise building, and now the remaining parts of the large building will come next.

The second stage of the work includes the reconstruction of the station hall, the eastern operational wing and the western wing with an apartment building. Passenger services will be improved in the check-in hall after the completion of the construction, mainly due to the increase in the number of commercial units and the modification of public toilets.

The eastern wing will be used to ensure the operation of the railway. The builders will make layout changes in the staff facilities and expand the office space. A lift will provide barrier-free access. Commercial premises with doctor's offices and a pharmacy will be located on the ground floor and on the 1st floor. A complete reconstruction of the residential part is also planned.

During the first year of work, the eastern wing and half of the hall will be reconstructed, and in the following year work will be carried out on the western wing and the other part of the hall. The apartment building will be the last to go. During the construction process, alternative facilities will be available to passengers.

The estimated value of the contract was CZK 855 million. The winning bidders submitted a lower bid of CZK 833,011,450.
