Modernisation of several lines in Hradec Králové Region has the green light
The feasibility study of the RS5 fast connection includes not only high-speed sections but also conventional lines in the territory of the Hradec Králové Region. And these are the ones that are covered by the granted exemption.
“The approval of the exemption is the result of many years of joint efforts of Správa železnic and the management of the Hradec Králové Region. Thanks to it, we managed to unblock and move forward the preparation of the modernisation of key lines in this East Bohemian region,” says Jiří Svoboda, Director General of Správa železnic.
Specifically, it concerns the modernisation and double-tracking of the section between Hradec Králové and Jaroměř, the line Jaroměř – Česká Skalice – Náchod awaits not only electrification and double-tracking between Jaroměř and Česká Skalice, but also the construction of the connecting line called Vysokovská spojka. In the Náchod – Meziměstí – state border section, the line will be electrified again, and, in addition, the line will be increased in capacity. Remote control of signalling equipment, increase of line speed, modernisation of railway stations and deployment of the ETCS system will be a matter of course.
Správa železnic will start preparing the assignment for the preparation of project plans and documentation for the permit of all three structures. Their implementation is expected to take place gradually between 2029 and 2032. At the same time, the establishment of the railway station Česká Metuje is being prepared, with planned implementation in 2026 and 2027, which will enable the increase in line capacity and the possibility of introducing additional trains.
Upon completion of the modernisation, the conditions will be created for the implementation of the planned operational concepts for both long-distance and regional transport, including the enhancement of cross-border connections to Wrocław in Poland.Files to download
