Modernisation of railway stations in Chrastava and Hrádek nad Nisou begins

Today Správa železnic festively launched the reconstruction of the railway stations in Chrastava and Hrádek nad Nisou. The works in two neighbouring stations on the railway line from Liberec to Saxon Zittau will last until November next year. Thanks to them, passengers will have barrier-free access to trains and more comfortable transfers to buses. Both railway stations will be comprehensively modernised, including the station buildings.

As part of the construction works, platforms and roofing will be reconstructed at both stations, which will increase passenger safety and comfort. New pedestrian underpasses will lead to the trains and barrier-free access will be ensured by lifts.

The project also includes the renovation of both station buildings. In Chrastava, a new waiting room with sanitary facilities will be created thanks to the modifications of the interior premises. The interiors in Hrádek nad Nisou are going to be completely modernised, resulting not only in a spacious waiting room, but also in commercial spaces.

The reconstruction will also affect the signalling equipment on the entire section from Liberec to the state border with Poland and Germany. At the same time, the time required for crossing trains will be reduced. Traffic on the line will be managed by dispatchers from the new regional workplace in Liberec.

The company Skanska is the contractor of the works worth CZK 1,237,755,536. A continuous closure on the line from Liberec to Hrádek nad Nisou is planned from June to October next year.
